The time

Por incrível que pareça parece que o Outono chegou… devagar. O Sol ainda brilha e traz um calor de Verão mas o cheiro, esse, já é de Outono. A minha horta diz-me quando está na hora… Ontem passei o serão à volta de tachos de conserva. Comecei por fazer geleia de maçã que deixei a coar durante a noite. Mais rápida foi a compota de abóbora. Tive de usar o instinto e os conselhos da avó porque não tinha em casa nenhuma receita. 

Para 1,3 kg de abóbora usei cerca de 800g de açúcar que cozinhei durante cerca de 30 min com um pau de canela, raspa de um limão e sumo de uma laranja.

Passado esse tempo retirei os condimentos e reduzi tudo a puré. Deixei apurar mais um pouco ao lume e pronto! Sobrou um pouquinho que provamos hoje ao pequeno almoço. Ficou tão boa!

Amazingly, it seems that autumn has arrived ... slowly. The sun still shines and brings the warmth of the summer but the smell tell us that is already autumn. My veg garden tells me when it's time ... Yesterday I spent the evening around pots of preserves. I started by making apple jelly that I left filter overnight. Faster was the pumpkin compote. I had to use my instinct and the advices of the grandmother because I have no recipe at home!

To 1.3 kg of pumpkin I used about 800g of sugar. I cooked both for about 30 min with a cinnamon stick, zest of one lemon and the juice of an orange. 

After this time I removed all the spices and reduce the pumpkin into puree. I warm it a bit more in the heat and voila! I tried a little bit leftover today for breakfast. He is so good!

Todos os anos temos um motivo para ir a Ponte de Lima. Como se não bastasse o fabuloso cenário das Lagoas de Bertiandos e São Pedro de Arcos, desde há alguns anos para cá, o Festival de Jardins tem feito as nossas mentes sonhar um pouco, romper com as convenções e brincar outra vez. Este ano não foi excepção! À porta há um clube de canoagem, uma actividade que, para o ano não vai escapar!

Every year we have some reason to go to Ponte de Lima, in the north of Portugal. The fabulous scenario of the Lagoas de Bertiandos and São Pedro de Arcos is enough to bring us there, but the International Garden Festival has made up our minds to dream a little, breaking with conventions and play again as a child. This year was no exception! 

At the door there is a canoeing club, an activity that will not escape in the next year!

Detour

Há uns tempos fui às Caldas da Rainha. Fizemos um pic-nic, fomos a uma feira de antiguidades que havia no jardim principal e até vimos passar a volta a Portugal. Escusado será dizer que já tinha em mente um pequeno desvio à loja de fábrica das faianças Bordallo Pinheiro.

A loja é irresistível e tem uma secção de outlet demasiado boa para vir de mãos a abanar! Claro que hei-de lá voltar e para já limitei-me a trazer umas peças para decorar a mesa de Natal.

Some time ago, I went to Caldas da Rainha with my family. We had a picnic, we went to a antiques fair taking place and we even saw the bicycle tour in Portugal passing in the village. Needless to say that I had in mind a small detour to the factory store of the portuguese famous Bordallo Pinheiro pottery. 

The store is overwhelming and has an outlet section too good to come home empty handed! Of course I will go back there in the future so I limited myself to bring some pieces to decorate the Christmas table this year.

Monsaraz, Alentejo

Não posso deixar de partilhar convosco as minhas paixões pelas coisas simples. Estivemos uns dias no Alentejo, em Monsaraz onde as portas e janelas têm personalidade: de tão honestas espelham as coisas maravilhosas daquela região.

I always want to share my passions for the simple things. We went a few days to Alentejo, in Monsaraz, where doors and windows have personality: so honest that they mirror the wonderful things we can find in the region.

Take your time

Depois de algumas semanas cheias de stress tive uma pausa que me pareceu quase inesperada. Estava ansiosa por por as mãos na chita que comprei há uns dias. Não esperei duas vezes e já tenho um pequeno projecto para ela! Um projecto de iniciante, claro, mas cheio de mimo como todas as boas estreias. Já fiz os cortes e as primeiras costuras. Já me enganei e corrigi! Espero por uma próxima aberta para o terminar...

After a few weeks of stress I had a pause that seemed almost unexpected. I was anxious to get my hands on the portuguese chita I bought a few days ago. I did not wait and I already have a small project for it. A beginners project, of course, but full of love as every first time. I already cut the fabric and made some sewing. I already unriped and sewed again! I am waiting for a new break to finish it…

Lamp

Ando há meses à procura de um candeeiro para o escritório que é uma divisão pequena e pede algo pequeno mas com personalidade. Encontrei este! Acho que foi por ser tão simples que me apaixonei. Para já vou ficar a namorá-lo. A é questão saber se há alguma versão com uma lâmpada de baixo consumo!

For months I looked for a lamp for my office: is a small room and needs something small but with personality. Finally I think I found this lamp. I think it was because it was so simple that I fall in love. For now I just can stare at it.  The question is: is there is any version with a low consumption lamp?

The reward

Já falei aqui da minha horta e dos seus frutos! Das melhores coisas que há é chegar a casa ao fim da tarde e ter um delicioso lanche à minha espera. Ontem, para além de ter lanchado bem ainda comecei a preparar uns doces para oferecer… no Natal! Sim, já os fiz a pensar nisso. A fruta está disponível agora e é agora que tenho de trabalhar! Mas disso falo-vos depois!

I already talked about my vegetable garden! One of the best things is to get home in the evening and have a delicious fruit waiting for me to refresh our body and soul. Yesterday, in addition to this I begun to prepare some jam to offer ... at Christmas! Yes, I did think about it. The fruit is available now so now is the time to work!
